How The Program Works

Access Tech is here to make assistive technology more accessible, affordable, and flexible for all people with disability in South Australia and Tasmania, empowering you to live independently and participate fully in your community.

How The Program Works

Access Tech is an innovative program designed to make Assistive Technology (AT) more accessible for people with disability across South Australia and Tasmania. Unlike many programs, Access Tech is open to anyone under the age of 65 with a disability, extending its services beyond just NDIS participants. Our goal is to provide an affordable refurbished AT rental service to empower individuals, enhancing their independence and community participation.

Our Services

Through this program, we offer Refurbished Assistive Technology Solutions

  • Assistive Technology Rentals: Short- or long-term access to essential assistive technologies, meeting individual needs without the need for permanent purchases.
  • Assistive Technology Sales: Refurbished assistive technologies to enhance daily living and independence, with options for customisation.

The pilot program will gather insights and feedback from participants to evaluate its impact and refine our services, aiming to expand access and improve quality for more people.

We’ve organised our library items into 3 categories, based on who is best placed to hand over the Assistive Technology. This approach ensures people can access and use the equipment safely and with confidence.

Category A: Low Risk – Therapy Assistant and/or Rental Officer Handover

  • “Off the shelf” or items requiring minimal adjustment
  • Simple orientation and handover

Category B: Medium Risk – Therapist Handover or Product Specialist

  • The therapist must be confident and familiar with the equipment

Category C: High Risk / Specialist Therapist and/or Clinician Handover

  • Highly specialized Assistive Technology where there is a risk of injury or reduced performance if the equipment is not set-up and handed over with the correct adjustments, guidance and monitoring.
    • An Access Tech Clinician or Therapist should be involved
